Days spent in the studio are blissful. Creating individual pieces; inspired by our beautiful Scottish landscapes, from the remote Outer Hebrides with expansive white beaches and turquoise seas, to the rugged charm of the Cairgorms with vast mountains and glens. I believe that pottery should be enjoyed often and evoke a positive emotion.
Each day in the studio brings new opportunities to explore ideas and to be creative. I enjoy throwing small batch and unique pieces, then taking them through the process of trimming and shaping, bisque firing and then applying layers of glaze, both dipped and applied by hand to capture the particular mood for each piece. These pieces are then fired again and emerge after the transformation of the kiln.
I (Jacquie) am usually working on some hand build pieces and sculpture, or perhaps even on some painting.
These pieces are then on display for visitors to the studio, stocked in local shops or taken to events and markets throughout the year.
In addition I complete bespoke pieces to order and always happy to help transform your ideas into beautiful pottery pieces.
While I work away in the Studio, my husband (Stephen) works in his workshop transforming wood gathered from river walks or upcycled from building projects – we often combine our skills to provide mixed media pieces, for example mounting ceramic pieces on a beautiful piece of reclaimed whisky barrel to make wall art pieces.
And we can’t forget the Studio Manager, Poppy; a very mischievous and adorable Beagle, who spends her days snuggled up in the cosy studio.
A variety of unique pottery, sculpture, paintings and woodwork is created in the studio and workshop. Within the studio is a display area, and I welcome visitors by arrangement to come and have a look. Please see our contact information.
We attend various local markets and events where we offer our pieces for sale, these are updated on the Events page and social media platforms.
I take part in Perthshire Open Studios and open the studio most Tuesdays and on specific dates leading up to Christmas, again these are shown in the Events page and social media platforms. and by appointment
I offer a variety of workshop options from my garden studio. From individual tuition, small group, learning how to throw a piece of pottery on the wheel or you could have a go at sculpture.
If you have something specific in mind, then please Contact us to discuss your ideas and I am sure we can work out the perfect session for you.
