I offer individual and small group sessions in the studio; primarily because the studio is a small space and secondly to give a unique and individual learning experience which can be tailored to suit individual needs.
The options below give an overview of the most popular sessions, however I am happy to create a bespoke experience, whether you are wanting a taster session or to develop an existing skill.
All classes include use of equipment, tools and materials.
You should be prepared to get messy and have a lot of fun. So please wear suitable clothing, bring a towel and apron and something to tie your hair back if required.
To book or make an enquiry please contact me.
A one to one or one to two session; includes a short demonstration on throwing a basic cylinder, then you get started throwing a few pots of your own. You will throw 3-4 pieces with individual tuition throughout.
At the end of the session you can select your preferred piece which will be trimmed, fired and finished in a glaze of your choice.
Or, you may wish to book a follow on session to trim and finish your pot, completing all parts of the process – see follow on sessions below.
Your pot will be ready for collection/posting approximately 4 weeks after this session
Includes tuition, clay, use of equipment, materials and finishing/firing of one piece.
This session is designed for those who have completed the taster session and would like to continue to develop skills, perhaps to trim and finish their preferred pot.
This is a useful session for those who have some experience and want to develop or enhance a particular skill, perhaps making spouts, adding handles, trimming or glazing techniques
This session introduces hand-building and sculpture, and is aimed at those who are complete beginners, although the session can be adapted for those who have some experience.
There will be a project, giving each participant the opportunity to create a piece of sculpture, developing basic techniques of manipulating the clay by hand, adding clay, adding texture and
Working with clay can be messy, so please wear clothes that you are happy to get a little grubby. It is a good idea to bring an apron and/or old towel to catch any splashes. Short fingernails are recommended.
Depending on the class, you will learn at your own pace and develop skills to work with clay. Classes are small numbers, so plenty of time to ask questions and receive individual tuition and explore your own creativity. The main thing is to have fun.
The clay process cannot be rushed, and each piece needs to have enough time to dry to the next stage. In Summer this can take a few days and in Winter as the humidity increases, this process can slow down. I try to get your pieces processed as quickly as possible, but this can take between 3 and 6 weeks.
I accept cash and card payments and classes are paid for when you come to the studio for your session.
Or you may have a gift voucher that can be redeemed.
Each session includes use of the relevant studio equipment, a selection of tools and suitable type of clay*.
Agreed items will be finished and fired for collection at a later date.
A generous amount of clay is provided for each session. up to 6kg for a 4 week block of classes, if more clay is required, this can be purchased.
Absolutely! Gift vouchers can be purchased for lessons or to put towards a piece of pottery.
Please get in touch to arrange.
